Down another 4.2 lbs!

WooHoo! I'm now down a total of 16 with Weight Watchers and a total of 20 since I started. I was 250 and today I weighed in at 230.2.

Today I hired a personal trainer (my friend) Kim Gowen. She goes to my church and I've known her for 3 years. She's a fitness guru and is working on getting her Personal Trainer Certification. I'm happy she'll be able to help me make the most out of my workouts.

I was thinking the other day about some of the things I'm looking forward to as I continue to lose weight. Sometimes it's the small things. Here's a short list.
1.) Clothes that will stay on a regular hanger! The plus size shirts fall off the hangers.
2.) Being able to buy clothes in a regular store.
3.) Sitting more comfortably in any and all seats.

I was not an overweight child. I have some pictures from when I was little where I look like my parents didn't feed me. I didn't gain weight till after I got out of collage. When I got an apartment with a friend it was just easier to eat out. Growing up eating out was a big treat since we so rarely did it. I want to instill that in Tommy. I'd gotten into the habit of stopping at Mc D's or Taco Bell whenever Eric was out of town (which at times is often). We've stopped eating out except once a week. I'm cooking so much more at home and enjoying it. I want to make eating out a treat.....not a way of life.

I found(thanks Michelle) an awesome website and book. http://www.hungry-girl.com/ Her new book is 200 under 200. It's 200 recipes under 200 calories. She even has the WW points to go along with her recipes. Today for lunch I had an awesome buffalo chicken wrap! Sooo yummy!!

Thank you everyone for all your kind words and support!

-11.8

I'm . (point) 2 pounds from my 5% goal mark! I weighed in today at 234.2. I'm almost down 12 pounds in three weeks. I'm excited, for the first time in over 20 years, about this lifestyle change. I truly feel that this time I'm going to do it. I don't know what's different, but something is....something has clicked and it's a good thing!
They say the weight loss will now start slowing down to about -2 pounds per week. I'm just happy the scale is going down and not continuing to go up!

Working out has become my new obsession.

I'm not surprised. It's happened before. Now I'm obsessed with working out. I have not yet missed a day. I'll feel terrible tomorrow when I can't go. Isn't it funny how something you hate can become an obsession? I still don't LOVE going, but I certainly don't mind as much as I used to.
I'm not overdoing it by far. I just spend 30 minutes on the treadmill. I listen to my iPhone/iPod and go for it. I like that having that computer screen in front of me keeps me going. It tells me how far I've gone, how many calories I've burned and what my heart rate is. Isn't it amazing that it takes 30 minutes walking very fast to burn 300 calories, but only takes you 5 seconds to eat that many calories....not fair!! Just sayin'!

Week Two Weigh In

-4.6! I'm down again! On Weight watchers scale I weighed in at 237. On my home scale (which is a WW scale) I weigh in at 231. Whichever one is correct it still makes me happy! According to WW I'm down a total of -9 in two weeks on program.
I've added working out to the schedule....just shoot me, but it's gotta be done! I rejoined the Frisco Athletic Center. I couldn't decide betweet that or the Y, but the FAC has a killer pool that Tommy loves and for the same price as the Y. I've worked out 3 days in a row now. I'm just starting, so I've done 30 minutes on the treadmill each day at a pretty fast pace. I do have to say having the music totally helps!! (downloaded some Lady Gaga, Brittany, Beyonce, Coldplay, Michael Jackson and other movin' music to my iPhone).
I'm going to share my blog with a few more people. I've only shared it with 3 people so far. I'm not ready to show the world what my true weight is yet! :)

What the hell??

Why can't scales weigh the same?? I bought a scale at Target a couple days ago. Even got the offical Weight Watchers Scale. Weighed myself this AM and it says I'm 235. Now keep in mind I'd just weighed in at 241 two days ago at Weight Watchers. I'm like super weight looser!! Dunree just joined WW yesterday, so I had her weigh herself on my new scale and compare it to her weight yesterday and it's two pounds light. I just wish my scale was spot on.
So knowing the scale is two pounds light, I'm still down 4 more. :)

Week One

WooHoo!! Today I weighed in at 241. I'm 5 pounds down. At my heaviest a few months ago I weighed in at 249....I can't believe I'd let myself get to 250. Well enough beating myself up....time to move on. I'm down.....any loss is good, but 5 pounds is great! I know I won't lose that much each week. Usually you lose the most the first two weeks then it's recommended to lose about 2 pounds per week.

I have no desire to be a size 2...I haven't been a size 2 since I was 2! I'd like to get back to around 170. I weighed 180 when I met Eric.

Here is my goal: I'd like to lose 2 pounds a week until I get down to 170. That's 76 total pounds. That's 38 weeks which would be almost 10 months. Hopefully by June of 2010 I can be at goal.

When I was home last Christmas I was talking with Dr. Vesper (my brothers father-in-law) and he was talking about how to maintain weight loss. He said the easiest way to maintain is if you gain 3 pounds you stop and lose it ASAP. That was another light bulb moment. I have lost weight before but sadly failed at keeping it off. I'd gain 5 pounds and think it's no big deal. Then it'd hit 10 and I still think well 10 isn't bad....I was so heavy before. Then 10 turned to 20 which then turned to giving up. I always had an excuse. NO MORE EXCUSES.

It's Time!

It's Time!

I've decided IT'S TIME!! Time to cut the crap. Time to get on track. No more excuses and no more putting it off. There is always going to be some reason to try to put it off....Christmas, Birthday or special events. It's just time!

I have an old friend from high school Sally. Sally had an older sister Katie who I just admired so much. She was always so fun and outgoing! Katie and I both helped the sports teams, were on the pep squad and we both were very active in our school. I was looking at Sally's Facebook pictures when I came across pictures from her other sisters wedding. I just kept looking at this one girl in those pictures and said, "Is that Katie? She looks amazing!" She looked very trim and fit! My first thought was I bet she's had weight loss surgery. I'd looked into it and was very close to having the lapband myself. I sent a message to Sally through FB and said, "Sally, I'm needing to lose a bunch of weight and couldn't help but notice the pictures of Katie. She looks wonderful! Can you let me know what she did to lose weight?" Sally's response totally surprised me. She informed me that two years ago Katie joined Weight Watchers and hasn't looked back. She's lost around 100 pounds and is now a size 4. She's running marathons!

Something just clicked....or snaped! I'm not sure which. I right then and there decided I CAN DO THIS!! I HAVE TO DO THIS! I was so proud of Katie and her accomplishment! I knew that if she could do it I could do it to! Katie, (maybe someday you'll read this) I want you to know you were/are my inspiration!

I had a physical from the Dr. not too long ago. I got that dreaded news.....I'm borderline diabetic and my blood pressure was up a bit. The Dr. simply stated that if I could lose a bit of weight I could get rid of both these potentially deadly medical diagnoises.

I HAVE to do this for me and for my health. I have a 3 year old son Tommy and I want to do everything in my power to be around as long as I can for him!

It's time!! I joined Weight Watchers on September 1, 2009.

The picture above was taken less then a month ago. I am 246 lbs. in this picture.
